| WHEREAS, Imari Reynolds has ably served her fellow Texans as | ||
| a legislative aide in the office of State Representative Gene Wu | ||
| during the 89th Legislative Session; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Reynolds has shared her | ||
| valuable knowledge with the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee | ||
| and earned the appreciation of her colleagues for her commitment, | ||
| fierce advocacy, and sense of humor; in addition to gaining | ||
| valuable experience in the field of public service, she has learned | ||
| more about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens | ||
| of the Lone Star State; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Reynolds plans to graduate in May 2026 from the | ||
| Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where | ||
| she is vice president of the Black Law Students Association and | ||
| president of the Civil Rights Law Society; she is an alumna of the | ||
| University of California, Santa Cruz and has studied at the | ||
| University of the West Indies at Cave Hill, Barbados, the | ||
| University of Ghana, and the University of the Western Cape; while | ||
| attending UCSC, she was recognized as the 2017 Cowell College | ||
| Student Leader of the Year and was president of the Black Student | ||
| Union and the university's chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; | ||
| over the years, she has served as a client advocate for the Harris | ||
| County Public Defender's Office, special education teacher at | ||
| Raleigh-Egypt High School as part of Teach for America, chair of | ||
| Destination Higher Education, and immigration and abolition pillar | ||
| lead at Social Justice Solutions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Imari Reynolds has performed her duties as a | ||
| legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is indeed | ||
| deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commend Imari Reynolds for her service as a | ||
| legislative aide in the office of State Representative Gene Wu and | ||
| extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her | ||
| endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Reynolds as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
