| WHEREAS, John Wayne Reynolds Sr. of Groveton has greatly | ||
| benefited public education in Texas over the course of an exemplary | ||
| career that has spanned 47 years to date; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The first in his family to go to college, | ||
| Mr. Reynolds attended Texas A&M University on an athletic | ||
| scholarship; he returned to his hometown, Groveton, to teach and | ||
| coach, and there he married his wife, Patricia; while raising three | ||
| young children, he supplemented his salary by driving a school bus, | ||
| and he later completed his master's degree in education and | ||
| eventually earned an administration certificate from Sam Houston | ||
| State University; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Reynolds went on to become principal of Groveton | ||
| Elementary School and Groveton High School and then served for two | ||
| decades as superintendent of the Groveton Independent School | ||
| District; following his retirement, he joined the Region 6 | ||
| Education Service Center in Huntsville and mentored and assisted | ||
| school districts and superintendents; he subsequently became | ||
| superintendent of Lovelady ISD, and after five years, he began | ||
| helping a number of school systems by acting as an interim | ||
| superintendent; currently, at the age of 73, he is employed once | ||
| again at the Region 6 Service Center, benefiting school districts | ||
| from Groveton to Shepherd; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Reynolds is now the proud | ||
| grandfather of six and great-grandfather of two; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Few professionals can claim such a long and | ||
| distinguished career in public education, and through his deep | ||
| commitment to his calling, John Wayne Reynolds has made a lasting, | ||
| positive difference in the lives of innumerable young Texans; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby honor John Wayne Reynolds Sr. for his 47 years of | ||
| service in public education and extend to him sincere best wishes | ||
| for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Reynolds as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
