| WHEREAS, Dr. Rita Sperry was one of eight Texas A&M | ||
| University-Corpus Christi employees who were named 2014 40 Under 40 | ||
| honorees by Corpus Christi Under 40 (CCU40); and | ||
| WHEREAS, Each year, CCU40 honors 40 men and women under the | ||
| age of 40 who have worked to make a positive difference in the | ||
| Corpus Christi area through both their professional and community | ||
| endeavors; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Sperry is an assistant professor at A&M-Corpus | ||
| Christi, where she teaches introductory programming and technical | ||
| writing classes in the computer science department; she helps | ||
| oversee seminar courses in the school's First-Year Learning | ||
| Communities Program and works with the state and national learning | ||
| communities consortiums; active in her community as well, she has | ||
| served her fellow congregants at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic | ||
| Church as a catechism teacher and as a member of the choir and the | ||
| vacation Bible school planning committee; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Rita Sperry has set an outstanding example of | ||
| professional achievement and civic engagement, and she may take | ||
| justifiable pride in her contributions to the Coastal Bend | ||
| community; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Rita Sperry on her selection as | ||
| a Corpus Christi 40 Under 40 honoree and extend to her sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success in her important work; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Dr. Sperry as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
