R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The Lago Vista High School baseball team has |
|
|
distinguished itself through its recent record of success, and the |
|
|
squad is indeed deserving of special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After advancing to the regional finals in 2015 and |
|
|
the regional semifinals in 2016, the Vikings were slated number one |
|
|
in the 2017 preseason rankings for Class 3A, in part due to the |
|
|
return of a number of talented veterans; the team has lived up to |
|
|
these expectations in its early-season contests, winning the Lake |
|
|
Shore Classic baseball tournament in March; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This year's lineup has featured several |
|
|
student-athletes who have already attained notable success during |
|
|
their high school careers; ranked among the top 10 players in Class |
|
|
3A, senior Alex DeLeon received the 2016 District Most Valuable |
|
|
Player Award, and he has been joined by senior Collin Docker in |
|
|
twice receiving All-State and All-Central Texas honors; moreover, |
|
|
Mr. DeLeon and Mr. Docker, along with seniors Bryce Hardway, Jake |
|
|
Loyd, and Jayten Alexander, were named to the 2016 All-District |
|
|
First Team, while three of their teammates were chosen to the |
|
|
All-District Second Team; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Vikings have also received essential |
|
|
contributions during the 2017 season from the other members of the |
|
|
roster: Zach Callan, TJ Hovey, Zane Callan, Logan Knab, Dylan |
|
|
McKee, Isaac Rohne, Clayton Leggett, Jordan Owen, Tyler Emanuel, |
|
|
Brayden Clark, Jakob Harm, Caleb Roach, and Jake Hurley; the team |
|
|
has been ably guided by head coach Brandon Grant and assistant |
|
|
coaches Steve Searle and Brian Goodman; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These dedicated players have earned the respect and |
|
|
admiration of their many supporters in the community, and they may |
|
|
indeed reflect with pride on their recent accomplishments as they |
|
|
look ahead to the remainder of the 2017 campaign; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend the Lago Vista High School baseball team |
|
|
on its many achievements and extend to the team's players, coaches, |
|
|
and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
