R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Wild Horse Desert Round-Up BBQ Cook Off is
taking place April 26 and 27, 2013, in Bishop; and
WHEREAS, Held in conjunction with the city's other Wild Horse
Desert Round-Up festivities, the cook-off is an International
Barbeque Cookers Association championship event and features
lively competition and good eating; skilled pit masters put their
talents to the test as they vie to produce the tastiest smoked
meats, with cash prizes going to the top finishers; and
WHEREAS, This highly anticipated get-together has taken
place each year since 2010 and offers area residents and visitors
alike an opportunity to sample some great food while supporting a
worthy cause; proceeds are used to fund the Bishop Chamber of
Commerce scholarship program, which benefits deserving seniors at
Bishop High School; and
WHEREAS, A fun-filled event for people of all ages, the Wild
Horse Desert Round-Up BBQ Cook Off has become a popular celebration
of Texas-style food and is all the more special for the scholarship
assistance it provides to local students seeking to further their
education; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the Wild Horse Desert Round-Up BBQ
Cook Off and extend sincere best wishes to the event's participants
and organizers for an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
