WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Haskell L. Simon of Bay | ||
City were deeply saddened by his passing on August 26, 2020, at the | ||
age of 87; and | ||
WHEREAS, A native of Bay City, Haskell Simon was born to Aaron | ||
and Sonia Simon on August 29, 1932; he graduated from Texas A&M | ||
University and went on to serve in the U.S. Army, eventually | ||
retiring at the rank of captain; and | ||
WHEREAS, Over the course of a multifaceted career, Mr. Simon | ||
worked in engineering, rice farming, and cattle ranching, and he | ||
also operated a restaurant; additionally, he served with | ||
distinction on a number of local boards and was a tireless advocate | ||
for water conservation in Texas; and | ||
WHEREAS, Haskell Simon was known for his unwavering | ||
dedication to the community and his steadfast loyalty to his | ||
friends, and he will forever be a source of inspiration to those he | ||
leaves behind; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Haskell L. Simon and | ||
extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his | ||
sister, Beatrice Simon Franzel, and her husband, Gerald; to his | ||
niece, Dee Mintz, and her husband, Steven; to his nephews, Michael | ||
Franzel and his wife, Sue, and Aaron Franzel and his wife, Ellen; | ||
and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Haskell | ||
Simon. | ||
