R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of Margaret Ann Dunlap Thompson of Dallas, who passed away
  on March 30, 2013, at the age of 79; and
         WHEREAS, The former Peggy Dunlap was born in Dallas in 1933 to
  Hugh D. Dunlap and Margaret Brown Dunlap; she met her future
  husband, Jere W. Thompson, at Highland Park High School in 1949, and
  together they attended The University of Texas at Austin, where
  Miss Dunlap was the treasurer of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority; after
  Mr. Thompson's graduation in 1954, the couple were joined in
  matrimony on June 5; through the years, the Thompsons were blessed
  with seven children, and their family later grew to include 23
  grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom knew their
  high-spirited grandmother as "Peppy"; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson devoted herself to her loved ones,
  attending every event and remembering every special occasion; Mr.
  Thompson ultimately became the chief executive officer of the
  Southland Corporation and his wife was by his side to support him
  every step of the way, traveling with him and maintaining a list of
  the names and contacts they made around the world; a devout Catholic
  as well, she assisted in the offering of communion as a lay
  Eucharistic minister, and she was active with the Cistercian Abbey
  and Preparatory School; in addition, she helped found the women's
  auxiliary at the Nexus Recovery Center; and
         WHEREAS, Peggy Thompson lived a rewarding and purposeful life
  centered around her faith and her family, and she leaves behind a
  legacy of love, compassion, and concern for others that will
  continue to inspire all who knew her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Margaret Ann Dunlap
  Thompson and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
  family: to her husband, Jere W. Thompson; to her sons, Jere
  Thompson, Jr., and Michael, Pat, Chris, and David Thompson; to her
  daughters, Debbie Nelson and Kim Thornton; to her brothers,
  Devereux Dunlap and Chris Dunlap; to her grandchildren and
  great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family, and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Margaret
  Ann Dunlap Thompson.
