WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of William Henry Jones Sr. | ||
of Glen Rose were deeply saddened by his passing on March 30, 2021, | ||
at the age of 78; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born near Chalk Mountain on April 27, 1942, Hank | ||
Jones was the son of Samuel Timothy and Georgia Mae Jones, and he | ||
grew up with the companionship of eight siblings, Louis, Tim, | ||
Peggy, Willie, Georgia, Catherine, Naomi, and Philip; he graduated | ||
from Glen Rose High School and went on to attend Texas Christian | ||
University, where he joined the Army ROTC; answering his nation's | ||
call to duty, he served in the U.S. Army for 24 years, including a | ||
tour in Vietnam, before retiring as the military attaché at the U.S. | ||
Embassy in Tokyo at the rank of lieutenant colonel; and | ||
WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Mr. Jones opened | ||
Century 21 Quad J Realty and enjoyed a successful career in the real | ||
estate business; active in his community, he served on the school | ||
board of the Glen Rose Independent School District and was involved | ||
in several civic and philanthropic organizations, including the | ||
American Legion, the Lions Club, Boy Scouts of America, and the | ||
Somervell County Republican Club; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he benefited from the love and | ||
support of his wife, Deedee, with whom he shared a rewarding union | ||
that spanned nearly 55 years; he took great pride in their two | ||
children, Hank and Ray, and with the passing years, he had the | ||
pleasure of seeing his family grow to include two grandchildren and | ||
two great-grandchildren; he delighted in spending time on his farm | ||
and hosting family gatherings in Glen Rose and on the Brazos River; | ||
a man of faith, he was a valued congregant of First United Methodist | ||
Church of Glen Rose and Granbury Church of the Nazarene; and | ||
WHEREAS, A proud military veteran, devoted family man, and | ||
friend to many, Hank Jones lived a caring and purposeful life, and | ||
those who were privileged to share in his love and affection will | ||
forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of William Henry Jones | ||
Sr. and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to | ||
his wife, Deedee; to his sons, Hank and his wife, Julie, and Ray and | ||
his wife, Dallice; to his grandchildren, Brittney and Ray; to his | ||
great-grandchildren, Noah and Katy; to his sisters, Peggy, Willie, | ||
Georgia, Catherine, and Naomi; to his brother, Philip; and to his | ||
other relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of the resolution be prepared | ||
for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives | ||
adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hank Jones. | ||
