R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Dehaven of Canyon Lake has been chosen as a
finalist in the 2013 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program
for her innovative efforts as a volunteer; and
WHEREAS, A student at Canyon Lake High School, Ms. Dehaven
worked tirelessly to raise more than $20,000 to purchase a
nine-passenger van for a church in Romania in need of a vehicle; she
hosted dinners, organized sales, and gave presentations, and she
achieved her goal thanks to her hard work and determination; and
WHEREAS, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is
presented by Prudential Financial and the National Association of
Secondary School Principals in honor of young volunteers who have
demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving others; Ms.
Dehaven is one of only 234 individuals from across the country who
were named finalists in 2013; and
WHEREAS, The continued strength of our communities depends on
the dedication of young people like Kaitlyn Dehaven, and she is a
source of great pride to her family and fellow citizens; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Kaitlyn Dehaven on her selection as
a finalist in the 2013 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Dehaven as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
