| WHEREAS, Demonstrating great skill and dedication, the | ||
| Throckmorton High School football team won the University | ||
| Interscholastic League Six-Man 1A Division 2 state championship on | ||
| December 13, 2014; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Matching up against Groom High School in the title | ||
| game played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the Greyhounds dominated | ||
| their opponent as they had so many others before, winning by a score | ||
| of 66-20 after their lead exceeded the 45-point "mercy rule" limit | ||
| midway through the third quarter; this marked the 12th time that the | ||
| team won in this manner during the 2014 campaign, and the | ||
| championship victory closed out an exceptional season in which | ||
| Throckmorton compiled a perfect 14-0 overall record; moreover, the | ||
| title-game win gave the school its third state championship in the | ||
| past four years, further cementing its reputation as a six-man | ||
| football powerhouse; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The team's explosive offensive attack was led by | ||
| running back Casey Mitchell, who was named the Offensive Most | ||
| Valuable Player of the game after rushing for 168 yards and scoring | ||
| four touchdowns; on the defensive side, Coletyn King earned the MVP | ||
| honor after making several key tackles and intercepting one pass; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, In their march to the state title, the Greyhounds | ||
| also received valuable contributions from the other members of the | ||
| roster: Carson Scrogum, Noah Batts, Lanham Brown, Adam Hernandez, | ||
| Hayden Farquhar, Luke Hale, C. J. Rankin, Ben McCartney, Ben | ||
| Hernandez, Keith Balthrop, Noah Navarro, and Parker Boyd; and | ||
| WHEREAS, These talented athletes received essential guidance | ||
| from head coach Shane Mallory, and the Greyhounds also benefited | ||
| from the knowledgeable advice of assistant coaches Jason | ||
| Blankenship and Ryan Dollar; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is a daunting task that | ||
| requires countless hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment | ||
| to excellence, and the members of the Throckmorton High School | ||
| Greyhounds football team may take justifiable pride in their | ||
| exceptional accomplishments on the gridiron; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the Throckmorton High School | ||
| football team on winning the 2014 UIL Six-Man 1A Division 2 state | ||
| championship and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff | ||
| sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
