| WHEREAS, Lee Ricks of Pleasanton has distinguished himself as | ||
| a talented and successful artist for more than four decades; and | ||
| WHEREAS, With a keen eye for the beauty of nature and an | ||
| appreciation for a bygone era, Lee Ricks creates watercolor | ||
| paintings of the Old West, Southwestern landscapes, coastal scenes, | ||
| and colonial buildings of Mexico and Europe; he holds a bachelor's | ||
| degree in art from The University of Texas at Austin, and he worked | ||
| as an illustrator and art editor for the Texas Ranger magazine; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An independent businessman for 35 years, Mr. Ricks | ||
| began devoting himself full-time to his art in 1993; he is a former | ||
| president and the current treasurer of the Texas Watercolor | ||
| Society, and he performs demonstrations and conducts workshops | ||
| throughout South Texas; he was a featured poster artist for the | ||
| United Way of San Antonio campaigns of 2008 and 2009, and his work | ||
| has been recognized with awards from the Western Federation of | ||
| Watercolor Societies, the San Antonio Watercolor Group, and the San | ||
| Antonio Art League; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Wholly dedicated to his art, Lee Ricks has earned | ||
| the admiration and appreciation of citizens across the Lone Star | ||
| State and beyond, and he may indeed take pride in his impressive | ||
| body of work; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby honor Lee Ricks for his professional | ||
| achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued | ||
| success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Ricks as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
