R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A delegation from Chinquapin Preparatory School in
  Highlands is visiting the State Capitol on March 27, 2019; and
         WHEREAS, With the help of a grant from The Brown Foundation,
  Chinquapin Prep was established in 1969 by Robert Moore of
  St. John's School and his wife, Maxine Moore; in the decades since
  its founding, the school has worked to equip economically
  disadvantaged students with the knowledge and skills necessary to
  succeed in college and beyond; in addition to promoting academic
  excellence through its rigorous curriculum, the school has also
  fostered a sense of personal responsibility and civic duty by
  focusing on community service and on earning what one receives; and
         WHEREAS, Drawing its students from throughout the Houston
  area, Chinquapin Prep currently serves approximately 160 sixth
  through 12th graders, including an exceptional class of graduating
  seniors, all 22 of whom have been accepted to at least one four-year
  college; the school benefits from the leadership of director
  Dr. Laura Henry; and
         WHEREAS, For the past half century, Chinquapin Prep has
  helped many young Texans from underserved families become engaged
  and productive citizens, and the school is indeed deserving of
  recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the delegation from Chinquapin
  Preparatory School on the occasion of its visit to the State Capitol
  and extend to all those associated with the school sincere best
  wishes for the future.
