| WHEREAS, Rounok Joardar of Plano West Senior High School | ||
| earned one of only six first-place awards at the National Junior | ||
| Science and Humanities Symposium in April 2010; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Joardar is the first student in the history of | ||
| the Plano Independent School District to earn this prestigious | ||
| honor, and his efforts were recognized with a $12,000 scholarship | ||
| and a trip to London, England; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under the guidance of sponsor Deanna Shea, Mr. | ||
| Joardar designed a project entitled "Optimization of a Novel High | ||
| Efficiency Photo-Thermovoltaic Concentrator Solar Cell"; using a | ||
| hybrid cell, his plan offers a new method to harness solar energy in | ||
| a more cost-effective and efficient manner; and | ||
| WHEREAS, With his award-winning entry, Rounok Joardar | ||
| demonstrated outstanding talent and imagination, and his | ||
| impressive achievement is indeed deserving of special recognition | ||
| and praise; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Rounok Joardar on earning a | ||
| first-place award at the National Junior Science and Humanities | ||
| Symposium and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Joardar as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
