R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The City of Garland celebrated the opening of its
newly updated city hall, the William E. Dollar Municipal Building,
on March 3, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Named in honor of former city manager William E.
Dollar, who retired in 2015 after more than four decades of service
to the community, the facility features a modern exterior and new
restrooms and elevators and is equipped with an expanded government
access television studio and state-of-the-art technology upgrades
for the city council's official chamber and work session room; and
WHEREAS, Renovation of the city hall building is part of a
major downtown revitalization effort that has also added new
parking structures, apartments, offices, and retail space to the
city's center; and
WHEREAS, The William E. Dollar Municipal Building
constitutes a significant resource for the citizens of Garland, and
it is a pleasure to join in recognizing the vision, leadership, and
hard work that have helped bring this project to fruition; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the William E. Dollar
Municipal Building and extend sincere best wishes to all those
associated with this endeavor; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the City of Garland as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
