WHEREAS, Members of the Mexican American Democrats of Texas | ||
have long worked to advance causes important to the state's large | ||
Hispanic population, and their groundbreaking efforts have helped | ||
to ensure that the voices of all our citizens are heard and | ||
respected; and | ||
WHEREAS, Under the capable leadership of its presidents | ||
through the years, the Mexican American Democrats of Texas has | ||
successfully increased the representation of Hispanic Texans at the | ||
local, state, and national levels and will undoubtedly continue | ||
this proud tradition throughout the years to come; and | ||
WHEREAS, Following in the footsteps of such groups as La Raza | ||
Unida and the Southwest Voter Registration Project, members of the | ||
Mexican American Democrats of Texas have employed grassroots | ||
methods to reach the largest audience possible; by actively | ||
soliciting their constituents' opinions and faithfully | ||
representing their concerns, they have demonstrated the truest | ||
ideals of the democratic process; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby honor the 2012 president and all former | ||
presidents of the Mexican American Democrats of Texas and commend | ||
the organization for its achievements; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the Mexican American Democrats of Texas as an | ||
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
