| WHEREAS, The Cypress community lost a beloved resident with | ||
| the passing of Eugene Frank Zaboroski on February 20, 2025, at the | ||
| age of 88; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The son of Frank and Lilia Juergen Zaboroski, Gene | ||
| Zaboroski was born in Houston on May 1, 1936, and he grew up with the | ||
| companionship of two siblings, Joyce and Byron; he graduated in | ||
| 1954 from Cy-Fair High School, and he went on to earn a degree in | ||
| agriculture from Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1959; he | ||
| participated in ROTC while completing his undergraduate studies, | ||
| and he served in the U.S. Army Reserve for nine years; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In May 1962, Mr. Zaboroski exchanged vows with | ||
| Delphine Schultz, and the couple shared a rewarding marriage that | ||
| spanned more than six decades; he was the father of five daughters, | ||
| Becky, Sandra, Christy, Christine, and Jennifer, and with the | ||
| passing years, he saw his treasured family grow to include eight | ||
| grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Zaboroski devoted many years of his life to his | ||
| family's business, the historic Juergen's Store & Hall, as well as | ||
| to its other ventures, which included a gas station, package and | ||
| hardware store, plant nursery, and dance hall; in 1966, he was | ||
| elected as the Harris County justice of the peace for Precinct 6, | ||
| and over the course of his tenure, he implemented programs that | ||
| expanded the court's services and oversaw its move to Cypress; | ||
| additionally, he served as chair of the Harris County Justices of | ||
| the Peace and Constables Association and as a director of the | ||
| Justices of the Peace and Constables Association of Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Zaboroski also gave of his time to the Cy-Fair | ||
| Volunteer Fire Department, the Cy-Fair VFW Post 8905, the Cy-Fair | ||
| Educational Foundation, and the Cy-Fair FFA; he was also a charter | ||
| member and officer of the Rotary Club of Cypress-Fairbanks, and he | ||
| was involved with the local Masons and Shriners; moreover, he was a | ||
| member of the church council for Christ United Church of Cypress; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Zaboroski and his wife generously | ||
| bequeathed the land containing their family's general store to | ||
| Harris County; one of the area's original settlements, the property | ||
| was redeveloped into the Cypress Top Historic Park, where public | ||
| tours are now conducted to educate residents and visitors alike on | ||
| life in historic Cypress; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Gene Zaboroski lived a life that was rich in family, | ||
| friends, and community service, and those who were privileged to | ||
| share in his love and affection will forever hold him close in their | ||
| hearts; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Eugene Frank | ||
| Zaboroski and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: | ||
| to his wife, Delphine Zaboroski; to his daughters, Becky Martin and | ||
| her husband, Daniel, Sandra Davis and her husband, Stacy, and | ||
| Christy Gonzalez and her husband, Gabe; to his grandchildren, | ||
| Ashleigh Hansberger, Samantha Martin, Danielle Anderson, Tyler | ||
| Martin, Cole and Emma Davis, and Zachary and Sophia Gonzalez; to his | ||
| great-grandchildren, Gage and Stella Hansberger and Kennedy and | ||
| Ford Anderson; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gene | ||
| Zaboroski. | ||
