| WHEREAS, Kyle Kendall retired as owner and operator of | ||
| Stanton Drug Store in February 2015, drawing to a close 44 years of | ||
| outstanding service to West Texans; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A native of Hereford, Mr. Kendall graduated from | ||
| Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1970; he began his career | ||
| at a pharmacy in Odessa, where he worked for a decade before moving | ||
| to Stanton, and he bought Stanton Drug Store in 1983; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Stanton Drug Store has been a treasured community | ||
| institution for more than six decades, and a number of its employees | ||
| have worked at the store for nearly 30 years; in addition to filling | ||
| prescriptions for area residents, the pharmacy has prospered as a | ||
| popular eatery and social gathering place; Mr. Kendall has retained | ||
| the small-town, soda fountain atmosphere as well as a loyal | ||
| customer base, while also overseeing several renovations to the | ||
| store, such as an expanded pharmacy area; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Kendall enjoys the love | ||
| and support of his wife, Brenda, and their children, Kenneth and | ||
| Bonnie; now that he has stepped away from the pharmacy counter, | ||
| Mr. Kendall looks forward to traveling and continuing to be an | ||
| active member of the Downtown Church of Christ in Stanton; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Kyle Kendall's dedication, professionalism, and | ||
| commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of | ||
| Stanton, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent | ||
| as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Kyle Kendall on his retirement as | ||
| owner and operator of Stanton Drug Store and extend to him sincere | ||
| best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Kendall as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
