| WHEREAS, Members of the Mexican American Democrats of Texas | ||
| have long worked to advance causes important to the state's large | ||
| Hispanic population, and their groundbreaking efforts have helped | ||
| to ensure that the voices of all our citizens are heard and | ||
| respected; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under the capable leadership of its presidents | ||
| through the years, the Mexican American Democrats of Texas has | ||
| successfully increased the representation of Hispanic Texans at the | ||
| local, state, and national levels and will undoubtedly continue | ||
| this proud tradition throughout the years to come; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Following in the footsteps of such groups as La Raza | ||
| Unida and the Southwest Voter Registration Project, members of the | ||
| Mexican American Democrats of Texas have employed grassroots | ||
| methods to reach the largest audience possible; by actively | ||
| soliciting their constituents' opinions and faithfully | ||
| representing their concerns, they have demonstrated the truest | ||
| ideals of the democratic process; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby honor the 2017 president and all former | ||
| presidents of the Mexican American Democrats of Texas and commend | ||
| the organization for its achievements; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the Mexican American Democrats of Texas as an | ||
| expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
