	H.R. No. 712



	R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, Brenda Gardner received the Platinum Volunteer of
	the Year Award at the 2012 Rowlett Boards and Commissions Volunteer
	Banquet; and
	WHEREAS, This annual event pays tribute to outgoing board and
	commission members for their service while honoring volunteers in
	the community; Ms. Gardner was recognized for her significant
	contributions to the Rowlett Public Library and for her boundless
	enthusiasm for the library and its offerings; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Gardner spent nearly a year not only performing
	regular volunteer duties at the library but also coordinating the
	volunteer program; this work, which she took up because of a staff
	vacancy and which amounted to nearly a full-time job, included
	contacting and interviewing volunteer applicants, learning about
	their interests, scheduling them for shifts, and recruiting other
	potential volunteers; and
	WHEREAS, Setting a fine example of civic participation,
	Brenda Gardner is truly an asset to the city of Rowlett, and her
	efforts have benefited her fellow residents in many ways; now,
	therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
	Legislature hereby congratulate Brenda Gardner on her receipt of
	the Platinum Volunteer of the Year Award at the 2012 Rowlett Boards
	and Commissions Volunteer Banquet and extend to her sincere best
	wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for Ms. Gardner as an expression of high regard by the
	Texas House of Representatives.
