| WHEREAS, Residents of Sabine County lost an admired public | ||
| official and a cherished friend with the passing of the Honorable | ||
| Charles Edward Watson on April 8, 2014, at the age of 78; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born in Centralia on October 6, 1935, to O. B. and | ||
| Mary Watson, Charles Watson served in the United States Air Force | ||
| from 1955 to 1959; following his return to civilian life, he enjoyed | ||
| a successful career with CenterPoint Energy that spanned more than | ||
| three and a half decades; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman moved to Rosevine in 1996 | ||
| and was first elected to public office a decade later, when the | ||
| voters of Sabine County selected him as county judge; his | ||
| exceptional efforts earned him reelection in 2010, and he continued | ||
| to gain the respect of colleagues and area residents alike; known | ||
| for his encouraging attitude and his concern for others, Judge | ||
| Watson worked tirelessly to advance the common good and exemplified | ||
| the highest standards of public service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A caring husband and father, Judge Watson shared | ||
| many rewarding years with his wife, Barbara, and took great pride in | ||
| their three children, Wyatt, Damon, and Deena; with the passing of | ||
| time, he also had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include | ||
| 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; Judge Watson attended | ||
| First United Methodist Church in Hemphill, where he was a valued | ||
| member of the congregation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Devoted to his family and his community, Charles | ||
| Watson made a meaningful difference in the lives of his loved ones | ||
| and fellow citizens alike, and although he is deeply missed, his | ||
| contributions will be fondly remembered for years to come; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Honorable Charles | ||
| Edward Watson and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his | ||
| family: to his wife, Barbara Watson; to his sons and their spouses, | ||
| Wyatt Watson and his wife, Vicky, and Damon Watson and his wife, | ||
| Sherry; to his daughter, Deena Nutt, and her husband, Harold; to his | ||
| sisters and their spouses, Fayrene Tomlinson and her husband, Ray, | ||
| and Barbara Laughlin and her husband, Jimmy; to his grandchildren | ||
| and great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many | ||
| friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judge | ||
| Charles E. Watson. | ||
