R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Seeds of Strength has been honored with the 2013
Jesse "Buz" Sawyer Award for Philanthropy from the Georgetown
Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Seeds of Strength was formed in 2009 by a group of
Georgetown women with the mission of supporting area nonprofit
organizations through financial grants; in its first three years,
Seeds of Strength collected and donated $251,000, and in 2012, the
group raised $115,000 to be awarded through grants in 2013; and
WHEREAS, Along with pursuing their fund-raising work, many of
the women involved with Seeds of Strength contribute their time as
board members of local nonprofits; by sharing their energy and
talents with multiple charitable efforts, these dedicated
volunteers are truly making a positive impact on the area; and
WHEREAS, Seeds of Strength has gone above and beyond in its
support of the community, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring
this outstanding organization; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Seeds of Strength on its receipt of
the Jesse "Buz" Sawyer Award for Philanthropy and extend to its
members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Seeds of Strength as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
