R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Officer Gerry Lopez of the Port Isabel Police
  Department demonstrated exceptional skill and composure when he
  helped save the life of an infant on July 9, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, In the early afternoon on that day, Officer Lopez
  was flagged down by a distraught couple who had pulled over to the
  roadside because their baby had stopped breathing; and
         WHEREAS, Officer Lopez began performing CPR, which succeeded
  in reviving the child; after emergency medical services personnel
  arrived on the scene, the baby was transported to a hospital in
  Brownsville, where his condition has continued to improve; and
         WHEREAS, Through his swift and decisive action, Officer Gerry
  Lopez helped to prevent a dire situation from becoming a tragedy,
  and he is truly deserving of the gratitude and admiration of his
  fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Officer Gerry Lopez
  for rescuing an infant in distress and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Officer Lopez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
