| WHEREAS, The observance of Environmental Justice Day at the | ||
| State Capitol on April 10, 2025, provides a fitting opportunity to | ||
| highlight the outstanding organizations that help to promote a | ||
| safe, clean, and healthy environment for all Texans; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Vulnerable individuals, especially in low-income | ||
| communities of color, have been overburdened by contaminants in our | ||
| air, water, and soil that negatively impact public health; | ||
| advocates of the environmental justice movement are working to | ||
| rally support for meaningful change that would mitigate pollution, | ||
| flooding, and other hazards; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texans benefit from the many contributions of | ||
| environmental justice groups such as Air Alliance Houston, | ||
| Coalition for Environment, Equity, and Resilience, Bayou City | ||
| Waterkeeper, and Public Citizen; these organizations have | ||
| demonstrated a steadfast commitment to protecting the environment | ||
| and uplifting working-class communities; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Environmental justice advocates have played an | ||
| instrumental role in improving the quality of life for residents of | ||
| the Lone Star State, and they are indeed worthy of special | ||
| recognition for addressing this critical issue that affects | ||
| countless people; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby recognize April 10, 2025, as Environmental | ||
| Justice Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the | ||
| visiting delegation. | ||
