R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The football team from Tascosa High School in
  Amarillo enjoyed an outstanding 2018 season, capturing area and
  regional titles and advancing all the way to the University
  Interscholastic League 6A Division 2 state semifinals; and
         WHEREAS, Following a successful regular season in which they
  claimed the district crown, the Rebels went on to secure commanding
  playoff victories over El Paso Pebble Hills, Arlington, and
  Mansfield Lake Ridge High Schools before facing off against Haltom
  High in the quarterfinals; the teams were deadlocked 14-all after
  one quarter of play, but Tascosa took command of the game by
  tallying an additional 13 points before halftime and recorded a
  decisive 48-27 victory; the Rebels then advanced to the semifinal
  round to battle Longview High School, where they gave a valiant
  performance in a hard-fought game but ultimately fell to the team
  that would go on to claim the state championship; Tascosa finished
  the year with a record of 11 wins and 4 losses; and
         WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the squad
  received valuable contributions from each member of the roster over
  the course of the 2018 campaign, with a number of players garnering
  district and state recognition for their efforts; Brandon White was
  named to the 2018 Associated Press Class 6A All-State Football Team
  as 1st Team Safety, and he was joined by Daemien Gray, an Honorable
  Mention Linebacker, and Jacob Plunk, an Honorable Mention Safety;
  several team members earned District 2-6A awards, including King
  Doerue, the Offensive Player of the Year, and Joseph Plunk, the
  Offensive Newcomer of the Year; the 1st Team district honorees
  included Ayden Noriega, Colton Cates, and Brandon Gonzales on
  offense and LB Moore, Daemien Gray, and Jacob Plunk on defense,
  while the 2nd Team roster featured D'Andre Campbell on offense, Max
  Burleson on special teams, and Randall Campbell, Alex Mincey,
  Brandon White, and Caleb Reynolds on defense; moreover, Evan Enos,
  Sobhan Soleymani, Logan Fulton, Jorge Gonzales, and Parkle Settle
  were selected for the Honorable Mention Offense and Chris
  Sun-Solis, Taylan McKellar, Zech Greene, and Jaaron Tillmon for
  Honorable Mention Defense; and
         WHEREAS, These dedicated athletes benefited from the
  leadership of head coach Ken Plunk, who was named District 2-6A
  Coach of the Year; additional guidance was provided by coaches Dane
  Hamrick, Josh Ritchey, Derek Galt, Jay Belcher, Dale Davis, Greg
  Fortner, Christian Caflisch, Moises Sandoval, Joe Ledoux, Dustin
  Bohannon, and Trey Burleson, as well as athletic trainers Brian
  Mullins and Chris Dane; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the Rebels received vital
  support from the members of the Tascosa High School cheer squad:
  Channing Cooke, Jazlynn Claudio, Kristen Clay, Abby Dockery,
  Davante Donald, Ellie Duncan, Madison Gjerde, Ashlynn Gutierrez,
  Liz Holten, Aaron Huckabay, Lara Jarrous, Zaria Jeter, Raine
  O'Brien, Abigail Parton, Kai Phouchane, Kashynna Polite, Maecy
  Redline, Brittany Russell, Sydney Snyder, T'Nae Washington, and Phu
  Phu Win; the cheerleaders were directed by coaches Lexie Sparks,
  Jill Casillas, Kyle Kachelmeyer, and Megan Norton; and
         WHEREAS, Through perseverance, hard work, and an unwavering
  resolve to give their very best, the members of the Tascosa Rebels
  football team earned the admiration of their fellow students and
  their many community supporters, and they may indeed reflect with
  pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Tascosa High School football
  team on its exceptional 2018 season and extend to all those
  associated with the team sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
