R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Respected businessperson Linda A. Tovar is being
honored as a 2015 Pillar of Success by The University of Texas-Pan
American Alumni Association at its Alumni Ball on February 27,
2015; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the UTPA Alumni Association celebrates a
select group of distinguished alumni for their professional
excellence and for their service to the community and their alma
mater; and
WHEREAS, A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Linda Tovar
earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from UTPA
in 2008; she is currently H-E-B's senior manager of public affairs
for the border region, serving as the company's spokesperson and
overseeing its community relations and philanthropic efforts in the
area; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Tovar has also served the company as operations
leader for the Mission No. 3 store and the McAllen No. 2 store, and
she previously worked as director of operations for the Boys and
Girls Clubs of McAllen; and
WHEREAS, Benefiting from the solid educational foundation
that she received at UTPA, Linda Tovar has embarked upon a
successful career in the business world and made a positive
difference in her community, and she is indeed a worthy recipient of
this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Linda A. Tovar on her selection as
a 2015 Pillar of Success by The University of Texas-Pan American
Alumni Association and extend to her sincere best wishes for
continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Tovar as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
