| WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the | ||
| death of Mary K. Macaulay of Dallas on August 3, 2014, at the age of | ||
| 93; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born in Oklahoma City on May 31, 1921, "Blanche" | ||
| Macaulay attended Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio; while | ||
| she was a student, she met her future husband, Jack Macaulay, who | ||
| was studying engineering at St. Mary's University; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The couple were married in 1940 in Blackwell, | ||
| Oklahoma, and over the course of their 42 years together, they | ||
| became the parents of two sons, Mac and Andy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Macaulay were successful | ||
| entrepreneurs, and after her husband's passing, Mrs. Macaulay | ||
| dedicated herself to volunteer work; she served with the National | ||
| Park Service in New Mexico and worked with Catholic Charities and | ||
| Neighbor for Neighbor in Tulsa, Oklahoma; later in life, this | ||
| remarkable woman continued her education, earning a bachelor's | ||
| degree from the University of Oklahoma at the age of 72; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In 2001, Mrs. Macaulay moved to Dallas, where she | ||
| was active with her family, her church, and community groups; | ||
| throughout her life, she remained curious about the world around | ||
| her, and she enjoyed traveling and reading books on anthropology | ||
| and history; she was also a devoted fan of Oklahoma Sooners | ||
| football; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Although Blanche Macaulay is deeply missed, she will | ||
| forever be remembered with immeasurable love and admiration by all | ||
| who held her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary K. Macaulay and | ||
| extend sincere condolences to her sons, Mac and Andy Macaulay, and | ||
| to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary K. | ||
| Macaulay. | ||
