H.R. No. 57

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Through her dedicated endeavors as the founder of
the Lake Highlands Military Moms, Rhonda Russell has set an
inspiring example of patriotism and civic engagement; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Russell established the Military Moms
organization in 2006, following the deployment of her son, Staff
Sergeant Lee Russell; a member and former president of the Lake
Highlands Exchange Club, she has worked with that group on a number
of programs, including a breakfast honoring returning troops and
the production of the annual Lake Highlands Military Heroes Poster;
and
WHEREAS, Lake Highlands Military Moms has also assembled care
packages for service members abroad; local elementary school
students have participated in this effort, which involves sending
letters of encouragement to the troops; and
WHEREAS, Rhonda Russell has raised public awareness of the
sacrifices made by those who serve in our nation's military, and her
efforts in behalf of those brave individuals and their families
have earned her the respect and admiration of her fellow citizens;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Rhonda Russell for her contributions as
the founder of the Lake Highlands Military Moms and extend to her
sincere best wishes for the future.
