WHEREAS, Through her dedicated endeavors as the founder of | ||
the Lake Highlands Military Moms, Rhonda Russell has set an | ||
inspiring example of patriotism and civic engagement; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Russell established the Military Moms | ||
organization in 2006, following the deployment of her son, Staff | ||
Sergeant Lee Russell; a member and former president of the Lake | ||
Highlands Exchange Club, she has worked with that group on a number | ||
of programs, including a breakfast honoring returning troops and | ||
the production of the annual Lake Highlands Military Heroes Poster; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Lake Highlands Military Moms has also assembled care | ||
packages for service members abroad; local elementary school | ||
students have participated in this effort, which involves sending | ||
letters of encouragement to the troops; and | ||
WHEREAS, Rhonda Russell has raised public awareness of the | ||
sacrifices made by those who serve in our nation's military, and her | ||
efforts in behalf of those brave individuals and their families | ||
have earned her the respect and admiration of her fellow citizens; | ||
now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby honor Rhonda Russell for her contributions as | ||
the founder of the Lake Highlands Military Moms and extend to her | ||
sincere best wishes for the future. | ||
