R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The people of Abilene lost a brave and highly
  respected public servant when police officer Rodney Holder was
  killed in the line of duty on April 29, 2010; and
         WHEREAS, Rodney Holder was born to Worth and Lillian Holder
  on April 18, 1960, in Auburn, Alabama; in 1963 he moved with his
  family to Abilene, where he graduated from Cooper High School in
  1978; he enlisted in the United States Army the following year and
  served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North
  Carolina; and
         WHEREAS, His term of enlistment completed, Officer Holder
  returned to Texas and joined the Abilene Police Department in
  September 1982; after graduating from the police academy on January
  7, 1983, he began his first assignment with the patrol division and
  quickly began to distinguish himself through his dedication and
  professionalism; in addition to working as a patrol officer, he
  served as a member of the SWAT team and as a detective with the
  criminal investigation division; he became a motorcycle officer
  with the traffic division in 2005; and
         WHEREAS, Officer Holder was predeceased by his first wife,
  Robin Johnson Holder; fortunate to find love a second time, he
  married Annemarie Rankin on June 4, 1994; this devoted husband was
  also a caring father to his two children, Hilary and Kyler, and he
  took great delight in his twin granddaughters, Reese and Rylee; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Rodney Holder upheld the
  highest standards of his profession, and those who were privileged
  to share in the warmth of his affection will forever hold him close
  in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Officer Rodney
  Holder and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his wife, Annemarie Holder; to his son, Kyler Holder; to his
  daughter, Hilary Holder Erfurt, and her husband, Scotty; to his
  granddaughters, Reese and Rylee Erfurt; to his mother, Lillian
  Holder; to his sister, Jennifer Holder Rowley; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Officer
  Rodney Holder.
