WHEREAS, A 75th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of | ||
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Lyle and Coleen | ||
McGuffin of Kerrville celebrated this joyous milestone in their | ||
marriage on November 24, 2010; and | ||
WHEREAS, Their first meeting occurred at a grocery store | ||
owned by Mr. McGuffin when the future Mrs. McGuffin was only 17; the | ||
pair courted through letters and visits before they married in 1935 | ||
and went on their honeymoon to Monterrey, Mexico; and | ||
WHEREAS, The McGuffins joined the Church of Christ in 1967 | ||
and made a dramatic change in their lives; they were soon able to | ||
leave their jobs and move to Africa, where Mr. McGuffin attended the | ||
Southern Africa Bible College and became a missionary; and | ||
WHEREAS, Now back in Kerrville, where they are valued members | ||
of Riverside Church of Christ, the couple have a host of interests | ||
that include supporting mission work in China and elsewhere and the | ||
progress of the Southern Africa Bible College; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. McGuffin have enjoyed seven and a half | ||
decades of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are | ||
among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a | ||
lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Lyle and Coleen McGuffin on their | ||
75th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for | ||
continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. McGuffin as an expression of high regard | ||
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
