	H.R. No. 548



	R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce presented Bob
	Brent with the 2012 Owen W. Sherrill Award in recognition of his
	outstanding service to his community; and
	WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is reserved for those
	individuals whose leadership, vision, and commitment to Georgetown
	have truly shaped the city for the better; and
	WHEREAS, Just over a decade ago, Bob Brent, then chair of the
	chamber board, introduced his vision for Georgetown to become "the
	finest community of 100,000 or more in the United States"; the ideas
	he presented, focusing on education, health care, public safety,
	and economic development, laid the foundation for the Strategic
	Plan for the City of Georgetown and engaged thousands of citizens in
	the process of its development; and
	WHEREAS, A champion of education, Mr. Brent has been a member
	of several successful school bond committees and was chair of
	Georgetown Partners in Education; moreover, he served on the
	chamber's first Development Alliance, played an instrumental role
	in the Georgetown Aging Initiative, and helped create the
	Williamson County Institute for Excellence in Nonprofits; and
	WHEREAS, The citizens of Georgetown have greatly benefited
	from Bob Brent's dedication and involvement, and he may take
	justifiable pride in his ongoing contributions to the town he is
	proud to call home; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
	Legislature hereby honor Bob Brent on his receipt of the 2012 Owen
	W. Sherrill Award from the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and
	extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
	further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for Mr. Brent as an expression of high regard by the Texas
	House of Representatives.
