| WHEREAS, The Harlandale Sunshine Pantry in San Antonio has | ||
| made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless people in | ||
| need; and | ||
| WHEREAS, With the motto, "When you can't find the sunshine, | ||
| be the sunshine," the Harlandale Sunshine Pantry was established in | ||
| 2020 by sisters Lotus Rios and Marissa Gutierrez; it is a | ||
| mutual-aid, self-service community pantry that provides food as | ||
| well as basic necessities, including diapers and hygiene products, | ||
| to individuals in the Southside area of San Antonio; it also hosts | ||
| monthly produce giveaways; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The pantry is funded through donations, though | ||
| Ms. Rios will sometimes stock the pantry out of her own pocket; the | ||
| organization benefited from a $5,555 grant from the Ingram Park | ||
| Auto Center, which allowed for the purchase of tents, warming | ||
| blankets, and additional food supplies; and | ||
| WHEREAS, True to its mission, the Harlandale Sunshine Pantry | ||
| has helped Southside residents build brighter futures, and it is a | ||
| pleasure to join in honoring the organization for its exceptional | ||
| service to the community; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commend the Harlandale Sunshine Pantry for its | ||
| vital contributions to the community and extend to Lotus Rios and | ||
| Marissa Gutierrez sincere best wishes for continued success with | ||
| their important work; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the Harlandale Sunshine Pantry as an expression of | ||
| high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
