| WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Physical Therapy Association | ||
| are visiting the State Capitol on February 22, 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A chapter of the American Physical Therapy | ||
| Association, the Texas Physical Therapy Association was founded in | ||
| 1930; today, it represents more than 4,000 physical therapists, | ||
| physical therapist assistants, and physical therapy students; the | ||
| organization is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of | ||
| Texans by advancing physical therapy practice; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Physical therapists use their extensive clinical | ||
| experience and knowledge to diagnose and treat people of all ages, | ||
| from newborns to elderly individuals, who suffer from conditions | ||
| that limit the body's ability to move and function in daily life; | ||
| these highly skilled professionals provide care in a variety of | ||
| settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient | ||
| clinics, home health agencies, schools, workplaces, nursing homes, | ||
| and sports and fitness facilities; and | ||
| WHEREAS, When movement is impaired, physical therapists can | ||
| develop a plan of care using a variety of treatment techniques to | ||
| reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability; fitness and | ||
| wellness programs can be tailored to the specific needs of an | ||
| individual to preserve mobility, and a physical therapist may team | ||
| with a physical therapist assistant, an educated and licensed | ||
| clinician who works under his or her supervision; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through their commitment to excellence in health | ||
| care, the members of the Texas Physical Therapy Association make a | ||
| positive difference in the lives of their fellow Texans, and it is | ||
| indeed fitting to recognize their important contributions; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby honor the members of the Texas Physical Therapy | ||
| Association and extend to them sincere best wishes for a memorable | ||
| visit to Austin; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
