H.R. No. 532

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Texas Brand Bank of Garland received the Prime
Partners in Justice Award from the Texas Access to Justice
Foundation in November 2012; and
WHEREAS, This award recognizes longtime participants in the
foundation's Prime Partners program, in which banks contribute to
legal aid funding for low-income Texans by voluntarily paying
higher interest rates on certain attorney trust accounts; the need
for Prime Partner banks has increased in recent years, as a decline
in interest rates has resulted in a shortfall in legal aid revenue;
and
WHEREAS, One of only 13 recipients of this honor, Texas Brand
Bank is a locally owned bank serving residents and small businesses
in Garland and Northeast Dallas; a Prime Partner since the
program's inception in 2007, the bank has also contributed to area
Boy Scout troops and to health care for families that lack
insurance; and
WHEREAS, Through its continued support of legal aid services,
Texas Brand Bank is helping to ensure that all Texans have access to
the justice system, and its efforts are indeed worthy of
recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Texas Brand Bank on its receipt of
the Prime Partners in Justice Award from the Texas Access to Justice
Foundation and commend all those associated with the bank for their
generosity in behalf of Texans in need; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Texas Brand Bank as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
