R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Tri-County Black Chamber of Commerce is hosting
its 10th Annual Membership Conference and Awards Luncheon in
Houston on February 27, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Serving Harris, Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend,
Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers, Jefferson, and Orange Counties, the
Tri-County Black Chamber of Commerce works to disseminate important
information and resources in order to promote entrepreneurial
parity for African American businesses in both the domestic and
global economies; and
WHEREAS, Taking as its theme "Celebrating 10 Years of Making
Business Happen," the chamber's annual conference includes panels
on a variety of topics with partners that include Houston Community
College, the Texas Department of Transportation, and the City of
Houston's Office of Business Opportunity, among others; and
WHEREAS, The event will also feature a luncheon and
presentation of Business Choice "Star" and "Champion" awards, as
well as recognition of two Black History Living Legends; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of its chairman of the board,
John L. Perkins, and its president and CEO, Leondria R. Thompson,
the Tri-County Black Chamber of Commerce has made notable progress
in advancing its mission of development, education, and advocacy
for African American businesses in the Houston region; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 10th Annual Membership
Conference of the Tri-County Black Chamber of Commerce and extend
to its leadership, members, and guests sincere best wishes for a
meaningful and memorable event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Tri-County Black Chamber of Commerce as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
