| WHEREAS, The City of Garland and the Garland Fire Department | ||
| have earned Fit-Friendly Worksite awards from the American Heart | ||
| Association; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Honored for promoting a culture of wellness, these | ||
| notable North Texas employers have demonstrated a commitment to | ||
| supporting physical, nutritional, and cultural activities that | ||
| benefit staff; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Garland Fire Department's documented success in | ||
| improving employee fitness is credited, in part, to its creation of | ||
| an onsite CrossFit gym and running path; these contributions to the | ||
| working environment helped the department to earn the AHA Platinum | ||
| Level Fit-Friendly Worksite Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Named a Gold Level Fit-Friendly Worksite for the | ||
| fourth consecutive year, the City of Garland was honored for its | ||
| Commit to Wellness program, which has helped a number of city | ||
| workers to adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The fitness programs of the City of Garland and the | ||
| Garland Fire Department are improving the well-being of | ||
| participants, while saving money and improving productivity, and | ||
| these proactive and beneficial examples of municipal innovation | ||
| merit wide recognition and praise; now, ther | ||
| efore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Garland and the Garland | ||
| Fire Department on earning Fit-Friendly Worksite awards from the | ||
| American Heart Association and commend all involved for their | ||
| achievements; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the award recipients as an expression of high regard by | ||
| the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
