R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of William H. Cantrell Jr.
of Weatherford were deeply saddened by his death on April 12, 2018,
at the age of 59; and
WHEREAS, The son of W. H. and Cora Cantrell, Bill Cantrell was
born in Dallas on August 2, 1958, and he grew up with the
companionship of a sister, Pamela; he graduated from Southern
Methodist University and the Texas Tech University School of Law
before embarking on a 35-year-long legal career that included
service as Parker County attorney; in 1989, he established a
private law practice in Weatherford, which he operated successfully
until the time of his passing; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cantrell contributed to his community through
his work with the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, the East Parker
County Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club of Weatherford; he
was also an active member of the Republican Party of Parker County,
and he taught Sunday school at Shady Grove Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cantrell enjoyed the love
and support of his daughter, Courtney, and his grandchildren,
Coraleigh and Loralai, and he cherished the relationship he shared
with his fiancée, Jennifer; he counted among his favorite hobbies
building things and adding to his unique collections of antique
bricks, fossils, and cacti; and
WHEREAS, Bill Cantrell distinguished himself through his
outstanding professional and public service, and he leaves behind a
legacy that will long be treasured by all those who were privileged
to share in his love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William H. Cantrell
Jr. and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
daughter, Courtney Cantrell; to his grandchildren, Coraleigh and
Loralai Cantrell; to his sister, Pamela Cantrell-Brown, and her
husband, Arthur Arce; to his nephew, Raymond Carter Cantrell; to
his fiancée, Jennifer Lundy; and to his other relatives and
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of William H.
Cantrell Jr.
