R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort
  those saddened by the passing of Luis Angel Valls of Corpus Christi
  on May 1, 2022, at the age of 94; and
         WHEREAS, Luis Valls was born to Joseph and Lucrecia Valls in
  1928 in Sinton, and he grew up with nine siblings, Bessie, Andy,
  Robert, Alma, Lily, Joe, Arnold, Ernesto, and Eddie; a proud
  veteran of the United States Navy, he served during World War II and
  the Korean War before his honorable discharge in 1954; and
         WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Valls became one of
  the first Mexican American members of the Corpus Christi Fire
  Department; he served with the agency for nearly three decades, and
  over the course of his career, he was recognized twice for valor; he
  also had the distinction of responding to the first ambulance call
  following the creation of the department's EMT program; and
         WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Valls was a valued
  congregant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church; he was
  active with Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars,
  and the Corpus Christi Pan American Golf Association, and in his
  leisure hours, he enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and studying
  history; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Valls shared a rewarding union with his beloved
  wife, Olga, for 64 years until her passing; he was the devoted
  father of four children, Robert, Richard, John, and Rodney, and
  with the passing years, he had had the joy of seeing his family grow
  to include four grandchildren, Ashley, Kevin, Joseph Jacob, and
  Mia, and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Kensley; and
         WHEREAS, Luis Valls fought courageously in defense of his
  nation and then returned home to serve his community with equal
  commitment, and all those who had the pleasure of sharing in his
  love and affection will forever hold him close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Luis Angel Valls and
  extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn his passing; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Luis Angel
  Valls.
