| WHEREAS, The family and friends of Abigail Rose Arias of | ||
| Angleton suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of this | ||
| beloved little girl on November 5, 2019, at the age of seven; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born in Houston on June 28, 2012, to Ruben and Ilene | ||
| Arias, Abigail was blessed with the companionship of an older | ||
| brother, Ethan; she grew up attending the Second Baptist Church of | ||
| Angleton, and she went on to discover her love of school at Holy | ||
| Comforter Episcopal Church Preschool and Westside Elementary, | ||
| where she adored her teachers and classmates; spirited and full of | ||
| life, she found many outlets for her endless reserve of energy, | ||
| which included running, swimming, dancing, playing softball, | ||
| jumping on the trampoline, and playing with her friends and | ||
| cousins; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Abigail fiercely loved her brother Ethan, who was | ||
| her best friend, and she was cherished and doted upon by her | ||
| parents, her grandparents, and a host of other relatives; she was | ||
| surrounded by their support, affection, and prayers as she battled | ||
| cancer, and even on occasions where she needed to stay in the | ||
| hospital for treatment, she remained unwaveringly cheerful and | ||
| optimistic; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After meeting and striking up a friendship with | ||
| Freeport Police Chief Raymond Garivey, Abigail expressed the desire | ||
| to one day become a police officer so that she could help others; | ||
| her wish was granted on February 7, 2019, when she was sworn in as a | ||
| member of the Freeport Police Department with the badge number 758; | ||
| her story touched the hearts of people around the world, and she | ||
| went on to be honored by numerous law enforcement agencies and | ||
| organizations throughout Texas and other states; and | ||
| WHEREAS, While the loss of this caring and vivacious young | ||
| girl will always be deeply felt, her loved ones will forever find | ||
| inspiration in remembering the joy, laughter, and grace that she | ||
| brought to their lives; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Abigail Rose Arias | ||
| and extend profound sympathy to her family, friends, and countless | ||
| admirers; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Abigail | ||
| Rose Arias. | ||
