	H.R. No. 489



	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Lon
	Felts, Jr., of Uvalde, who died on January 17, 2011, at the age of
	75; and
	WHEREAS, Lon Felts, Jr., was born on a ranch in Edwards County
	on June 11, 1935, to Lon and Lillie Wallace Felts; he graduated in
	1954 from Barksdale High School, where he was a member of the
	football team; after attending Texas College of Arts and Industries
	in Kingsville for a semester, he answered his nation's call to duty,
	serving as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Felts married the former Cora Carter in 1960,
	and through the years their family grew to include two children,
	Cora and Lon, as well as four grandsons, Hayden, David, Nathan, and
	Ian; and
	WHEREAS, An enthusiastic outdoorsman, Mr. Felts worked for a
	time as a trapper and later trained horses and raised cattle; he
	moved to Uvalde in 1996 and raised Boer goats and Dorper sheep; he
	took great pleasure in sharing his passion for hunting and the
	outdoors with his loved ones; and
	WHEREAS, Although Lon Felts will be deeply missed, cherished
	memories of time spent in his company will long endure in the hearts
	of all those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lon Felts, Jr., and
	extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife
	of 50 years, Cora Felts; to his daughter, Cora Lynn Jasso, and her
	husband, Jesus; to his son, Lon C. Felts, and his wife, Melissa; to
	his grandsons, Hayden Felts and David, Nathan, and Ian Westmeyer;
	to his brothers, Philip Felts, and his wife, Barbara, and William
	Felts; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lon Felts.
