R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Amanda Head of the Amarillo Independent School
  District received well-deserved recognition when she was named the
  2018 Secondary Teacher of the Year from the Region 16 Education
  Service Center's area; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1969, the Texas Teacher of the Year
  Program recognizes excellence in classroom education and provides a
  forum to showcase outstanding educators, whose efforts have
  inspired their students, their colleagues, and the communities they
  serve; the winners of these prestigious awards are first nominated
  for consideration by their fellow faculty members, and those who
  are later chosen as district Teacher of the Year become eligible for
  the regional honor; recipients of the award were named at the Region
  16 "Mission Education" conference on August 10, 2017, before an
  audience of more than 1,200 of their fellow educators; and
         WHEREAS, Amanda Head teaches agricultural science in the
  career and technology department at Caprock High School; she also
  serves as the advisor for the school's FFA chapter, and under her
  direction, the program has grown sevenfold; raised in Hereford, she
  has been involved with FFA since she was nine years old, and she
  ultimately opted to study agricultural education at Texas Tech
  University, earning bachelor's and master's degrees in the subject;
  and
         WHEREAS, During the seven years she has taught agricultural
  science, she has made a point of annually adjusting her curriculum;
  this process has enabled her to continuously improve her methods as
  she strives to impart skills to her students that are applicable far
  beyond the walls of her classroom; and
         WHEREAS, Amanda Head exemplifies the passion, determination,
  and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers,
  and she has set a standard of excellence to which all in her
  profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Amanda Head on
  her selection as the 2018 Secondary Teacher of the Year from the
  Region 16 Education Service Center's area and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Head as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
