R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Bridge Children's Advocacy Center in Amarillo
  marked a significant milestone in 2014 with the observance of the
  25th anniversary of its founding; and
         WHEREAS, The Bridge opened its doors in 1989 as the first
  child advocacy center in Texas; initially housed in the Polk Street
  United Methodist Church parsonage with a staff of three, it has
  since moved to its current office and expanded to include satellite
  facilities in Pampa, Hereford, and Dumas; and
         WHEREAS, For a quarter of a century, the center has served as
  a welcoming and safe space to conduct child abuse interviews and
  exams; the devoted staff members record the interviews and work in
  conjunction with other investigating agencies, ensuring that the
  children only have to tell their stories once; furthermore, the
  center provides funding for uninsured children to receive
  counseling; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to its investigative services, The
  Bridge has established and supported a variety of other programs
  designed to protect children; it offers on-site training for its
  partner agencies as well as seminars for area citizens on child
  abuse indicators and prevention; in 1994, the center aided in the
  creation of Amarillo Area CASA, a program that empowers volunteers
  as court-appointed children's advocates, and it became a charter
  member of Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas the following year;
  and
         WHEREAS, Throughout its long and rich history, The Bridge
  Children's Advocacy Center has remained faithful to its mission of
  championing area children, and it has made a meaningful difference
  in the lives of countless young Texans and their loved ones; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of The Bridge
  Children's Advocacy Center and extend to its leadership and staff
  sincere best wishes for success in their future endeavors.
