R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The El Paso High School girls' swimming team won the
  District 1-4A title with an exceptional performance at the Tigua
  Recreation and Wellness Center on January 22, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Dominating the competition at the district
  championship meet, the Tigers scored 197 points and outdistanced
  their closest rival, Jefferson High School, by an impressive 103
  points; and
         WHEREAS, The depth of talent on the El Paso High team was key
  to the victory; the Tigers took first place in 10 of 11 events,
  paced by exceptionally strong efforts from Lauren Porras, Gaby
  Partida, and Shanny Lin; Ms. Porras won the 100-yard and 200-yard
  freestyle races, while Ms. Partida took first place in the 50-yard
  freestyle and 100-yard backstroke; Ms. Lin placed first in the
  100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke; and
         WHEREAS, Guided by coach Dow Farley, the Tigers have
  demonstrated an admirable work ethic and a true commitment to
  excellence throughout the season, and they may indeed take pride in
  their outstanding accomplishment at the district meet; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the El Paso High School girls'
  swimming team on capturing the District 1-4A title and extend to the
  athletes and to Coach Farley sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
