H.R. No. 415

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, San Patricio County Judge Terry Simpson is being
presented with an Outstanding Community Leader Award by LULAC
Council No. 1 in Corpus Christi at the organization's 21st annual
awards banquet on February 16, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Currently serving his fourth term as county judge,
Terry Simpson has partnered with economic development groups to
raise the profile of San Patricio County and the Coastal Bend area
as a desirable destination for business, and he helped to secure a
seat for San Patricio County on the Port of Corpus Christi
Authority; under his guidance, the county has also increased its
investment in wind energy, resulting in property tax revenue for
area school districts, and he continues to seek out grant funds for
sewer systems, housing rehabilitation, and other infrastructure
needs; and
WHEREAS, Judge Simpson previously served as a deputy sheriff
for the county for nearly three decades and as justice of the peace,
Precinct 1, for seven years; he has further benefited his fellow
citizens through his involvement with numerous boards and
committees dedicated to promoting economic and community growth; in
recognition of his myriad accomplishments, he was presented with
the Road Hand Award by the Texas Department of Transportation and
named the 2014 Newsmaker of the Year by the Corpus Christi
Caller-Times; and
WHEREAS, The strength of our communities is enhanced by the
devoted efforts of individuals such as Judge Terry Simpson, whose
tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life
in the Corpus Christi area and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Terry Simpson on his
receipt of an Outstanding Community Leader Award from LULAC Council
No. 1 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Judge Simpson as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
