R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Briggs Whittlake of Amarillo Tascosa High School
  ended a memorable season by participating in the 2014 University
  Interscholastic League Cross Country State Championships; and
         WHEREAS, Joining the top high school competitors in Texas at
  Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on November 8, Mr. Whittlake posted
  an impressive time of 16 minutes, 0.36 seconds, to finish in 15th
  place overall in Class 6A; a sophomore member of the Rebels
  cross-country team, he qualified for the state meet after a top-20
  finish at regionals on October 31; and
         WHEREAS, By earning the right to compete in the state's
  premier showcase for high school cross-country runners, this
  dedicated student-athlete has served as an ambassador for his
  school and community as he gathered with his peers from across
  Texas, and the character and sportsmanship he demonstrated will
  serve him well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Briggs Whittlake of Amarillo
  Tascosa High School on participating in the 2014 University
  Interscholastic League Cross Country State Championships and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Whittlake as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
