	H.R. No. 360



	R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, Members of the Northwest Democrats of Bexar County
	are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their organization's
	founding in 2017; and
	WHEREAS, In 1992, a group of Democrats joined together to
	engage voters and to carry the message, principles, and ideals of
	the Democratic Party to 160 precincts in northwest Bexar County;
	and
	WHEREAS, In support of their mission, the organization has
	worked for the election of Democrats at the local, state, and
	national levels, registered voters, mobilized citizens to take
	action on particular issues, and stimulated political activism and
	awareness; and
	WHEREAS, Starting in 1996, the group has mounted a full
	campaign in the region during every election cycle; members knocked
	on 25,000 doors in that first year, and today, they reach out to
	more than 100,000 voters; they have also produced a countywide
	newspaper for every election since 2008, featuring profiles of each
	Democratic candidate; and
	WHEREAS, The Northwest Democrats generously support
	initiatives that benefit the greater community, including Meals on
	Wheels, Adopt-a-Highway, Stuff the Bus, Project Cool, and the San
	Antonio Food Bank, among others; they have also planted trees at
	elementary schools in the Northside Independent School District;
	and
	WHEREAS, Over the past quarter century, the members of
	Northwest Democrats have demonstrated admirable dedication and
	commitment to their ideals, and they have strengthened our
	democracy by playing a vital role in the political discourse of
	Bexar County; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
	Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Northwest
	Democrats of Bexar County on their 25th anniversary and extend to
	the group's members sincere best wishes for continued success; and,
	be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for the Northwest Democrats as an expression of high
	regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
