| WHEREAS, Virginia R. Garza retired as the meal site manager | ||
| at the Driscoll Community Center on December 31, 2014, drawing to a | ||
| close a 27-year tenure with Nueces County Senior Community Services | ||
| and a lifelong career spent caring for the needs of her fellow | ||
| citizens; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Garza began working at the Driscoll Community | ||
| Center in 2003, after serving as the meal site manager at the | ||
| Robstown Community Center for more than 15 years; in these roles, | ||
| she was tasked with overseeing and recruiting volunteers for the | ||
| senior citizen nutrition program and motivating her clients at the | ||
| centers to maintain healthy, active lifestyles; in addition, this | ||
| compassionate Texan personally delivered meals to homebound | ||
| residents in the area, a practice she carried on from her nine years | ||
| as a van driver with the City of Corpus Christi; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A native of Nueces County, Ms. Garza was born in | ||
| Floresville and raised in Robstown, where she started her career in | ||
| 1974 as a bus driver for the Robstown Independent School District | ||
| and later served as a child care paraprofessional at the Wesley | ||
| Community Center; in all her endeavors, she has enjoyed the love and | ||
| support of her three children, Rosa Linda, Sylvia, and Ruben, and | ||
| her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The kindness and dedication that Virginia Garza | ||
| brought to her duties helped countless older Texans enjoy a greater | ||
| quality of life, and she may reflect with pride on her many | ||
| achievements as she embarks on her well-deserved retirement; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Virginia R. Garza on her retirement | ||
| from Nueces County Senior Community Services and extend to her | ||
| sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
