| WHEREAS, Memories of joyful times and meaningful | ||
| accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends of Lottie | ||
| Ruth Turner Clariday of Mineola, who passed away on November 2, | ||
| 2014, at the age of 91; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born to Hurshell and Minnie Turner in Montgomery, | ||
| Alabama, on October 18, 1923, the former Lottie Turner grew up in | ||
| Birmingham, where she graduated from Ramsay High School and | ||
| attended Birmingham-Southern College; she subsequently moved to | ||
| Nashville, Tennessee, to work as a secretary for her uncle, John | ||
| Ozier; and | ||
| WHEREAS, On March 28, 1948, she married John Clariday, with | ||
| whom she shared a rewarding marriage that spanned 66 years; they | ||
| raised their children, Mary, John, Greg, and Kevin, in Dallas and | ||
| Southlake and then made a new home for themselves in Mineola after | ||
| retiring; Mrs. Clariday was a skilled bridge player and a talented | ||
| artist, and she was instrumental in the establishment of the | ||
| Mineola League of the Arts, serving as its first president; she was | ||
| a valued congregant at Cartwright Baptist Church in Quitman; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Beloved for her warm heart, sweet smile, and | ||
| generous spirit, Lottie Clariday enjoyed a life that was rich in the | ||
| intangibles that matter most, and she will long be remembered with | ||
| deep affection by all who knew her; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lottie Ruth Turner | ||
| Clariday and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: | ||
| to her husband, Dr. John Clariday; to her sons, John Clariday Jr. | ||
| and his wife, Rhonda, Dr. Gregory Turner Clariday and his wife, | ||
| Barbara, and Kevin Patrick Clariday and his wife, Loretta; to her | ||
| daughter, Mary Jacquelin Clariday Burdette; to her seven | ||
| grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and to her other | ||
| relatives and many friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lottie | ||
| Clariday. | ||
