R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The United Way of Williamson County is commemorating
the 75th anniversary of the organization's founding on October 10,
  2014; and
WHEREAS, Officially chartered as the Taylor Community Chest
in 1939, this charitable endeavor was previously known both as the
United Fund of Taylor and as the United Way of Taylor before merging
with the United Way of Greater Williamson County in 2003; two years
later, the group joined with the Georgetown Area United Way, which
had been serving the area since 1948, to form the organization it is
  today; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to building better communities, the
United Way of Williamson County actively encourages individuals and
companies to work together to give, advocate, and volunteer; the
agency performs an important public service by bringing together
interested parties to seek solutions for local issues, and its
annual campaigns have raised millions of dollars to address those
  needs; and
WHEREAS, The group relies on the dedicated efforts of its
thousands of volunteers and donors who give generously of their
time, talents, and resources to offer assistance in periods of
crisis and to extend a hand to those less fortunate; and
WHEREAS, The United Way invests in area organizations that
offer education, income, health, and basic services to Williamson
County residents; among its many achievements has been the
successful management of three VITA tax preparation sites, which
offer free tax assistance to low-to-moderate-income and elderly
clients, and of educational programs such as the M.O.R.E. mentoring
initiative, which has positively touched many lives; in all its
endeavors, the United Way has upheld the highest standards of
quality and integrity, keeping its operating costs low and
stewardship high in order to direct more dollars to quality
programs that provide help for residents now and in the future; and
WHEREAS, For three quarters of a century, the administrators,
staff, and volunteers of this outstanding nonprofit have worked
diligently to benefit the greater good, and it is indeed a privilege
to join in recognizing the organization as it prepares to celebrate
this significant milestone in its rich history; now, therefore, be
  it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby honor the United Way of Williamson County on the
75th anniversary of its founding and extend to all those involved
with the organization sincere best wishes for continued success
with their important work; and, be it further
