| WHEREAS, Yash Patel, a junior at Hebron High School in | ||
| Carrollton, has scored a perfect 2400 on the SAT, and this rare feat | ||
| is indeed deserving of recognition; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ranked second in academics in his class of 800 | ||
| students, Mr. Patel challenges himself with a demanding course load | ||
| that includes numerous advanced placement classes; he is a student | ||
| representative with the National Honor Society and a tutor with the | ||
| Science National Honor Society, and he has been nominated for | ||
| several student excellence awards by his teachers; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The president of the Hebron High Latin Club, Mr. | ||
| Patel has won first place in area and state language competitions | ||
| and represented his school at a 2012 national event, where he placed | ||
| third in the vocabulary portion of the contest; his extracurricular | ||
| activities also include the school tennis team and DECA, and he is a | ||
| first-degree black belt in tae kwon do; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Patel takes part in a variety of service | ||
| activities as well, and during the summer preceding his junior | ||
| year, he worked at a hospital in a rural area of India; in addition, | ||
| he has devoted more than 100 hours to volunteer duties at Baylor | ||
| Dallas hospital and has assisted at the Dallas Marathon and | ||
| participated in charitable benefit walks for various causes; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A source of great pride to his family and his | ||
| community, Yash Patel has demonstrated exceptional initiative and | ||
| maturity in pursuing his academic goals, and he may take | ||
| justifiable pride in his many achievements; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Yash Patel on attaining a perfect | ||
| score on the SAT and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued | ||
| success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Patel as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
