H.R. No. 3393

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Irving is
dedicated to fostering selfless service to society, faith, and
unity; and
WHEREAS, A social and spiritual Hindu organization,
Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, or
BAPS, was established by Shastriji Maharaj in 1907; it is based on
the teachings of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, who lived from 1781 to 1830;
and
WHEREAS, BAPS addresses the myriad challenges of today's
world, conducting its humanitarian work through a worldwide network
of nearly 4,000 centers; it encourages adherents to lead upright,
honest lives and to contribute to the greater good by volunteering
regularly; and
WHEREAS, On January 24, 2015, members of the Mandir in Irving
joined in the worldwide celebrations of the 150th anniversary of
the birth of Shastriji Maharaj; his knowledge of Hindu scriptures
and his life devoted to the timeless principles of truth,
sacrifice, and loyalty remain a source of profound inspiration
today; and
WHEREAS, The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Irving provides
opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and service, and it
is indeed fitting to recognize its positive role in the community;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby honor the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in
Irving and extend sincere best wishes to its members; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Mandir as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
